I was 55 and had never run, EVER! I retired so was looking for help to do the couch to 5K. I googled any local courses and WRP were starting a 10 week beginners course so without hesitation I signed up and have never looked back.
That was September 2019. I did my first Parkrun in November and then in January 2019 I started training for the Cardiff Bay 10K. The rest you know, a global pandemic struck 🙁 Fast forward 18 months and today I took part in my first race – The Severn Bridge Half Marathon and what a huge buzz it was.
My message to anyone is you can do it. Regardless of time, you can!! If you follow a 21K training programme religiously, I assure you it’s doable and my goodness the sense of achievement is second to none.
